Switch by Carol Snow (Review)

Genre: Contemporary

Number of Pages: 224

For ages 13+ for some mature scenes

"Claire Martin has some serious body issues.

Ever since Claire hit her teens, electrical storms have been making her switch bodies. Usually she's back to her old self in no time. But when something goes terribly wrong, she finds herself stuck in the fabulous body—and life—of Larissa, the icy blonde beauty who has caught the eye of Nate, Claire's longtime crush.

Will Claire ever figure out how to get her old life back? And, more importantly, will she even want to?" -Goodreads

Switch by Carol Snow was a fairly good book! I wanted SOME type of paranormal aspect but.. this was more of a contemporary the further you got into it. My school had a buy one get one free book fair last week and I was definitely going. My friend Shelby (Which I promised I would mention. HI SHELBY!) found this book for me because I told her that I wanted a somewhat paranormal book with... Can you guess it? That's right. Romance. She finally found me Switch.

Claire is a somewhat normal teenage girl.. except that she somehow can switch bodies during storms. I thought I was scared of storms.. but she actually has an important reason. ;D I have to say.. I would NOT be a happy camper if I woke up in someone else's bed, in a different body. I am a real homebody. It's hard for me to fall asleep at a friends house and she HAS to fall asleep to become herself again. I could definitely feel her pain.

Romance.... Ehh. I would have to say that department was lacking. Also, the boy Nate, not a swoon worthy character either. He was like any average boy that all the girls had a crush on. He had no other unique qualities. I wish he could have been a little bit more unique. The good thing was there WAS some romance in this book, somewhat so I wasn't completely left "hanging." ;)

This was a good quick read so if you are looking for a good summer quick read this would be great! It was a nice simple book. Not heavy on the romance, not heavy on the "paranormal" aspect.

Carol did a great job of having you hate Larissa in the beginning and then somehow in the end feel her pain. You would never imagine that you could feel sorry for her. Larissa had problems that you never even learned until Claire was actually in Larissa's body figuring her life out.

If you are into the contemporary with a little bit of weirdness you would probably like this book. Unfortunately, for me, I'm not a humongous fan of just plain contemporary. It was a great book. Just not the type of book for me!

I give this book 3 out 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic book. I just prefer full paranormal than contemporary and a little bit of paranormal.

Interesting review, Jewelz. I love how honest you are and how you phrase your opinions so diplomatically. Can't wait to hear what you think of some of those ARCs :)

Ah, forgot the second half of my comment! :) Anyways, I definitely like paranormal over contemporary without it. Though I am satisfied with a little, I just need to it to be a big focus. I might check Switch out. Great review!
